It All Went to 🤬

One Ride Since August 3rd

July went okay, I logged 55 hours on the bike, averaging about 14 hours per week. It’s a bit less than I aimed for, but still a solid start. I had planned to take an easier week afterward to recover a little, which lined up perfectly with my brother, his wife, and my two little nieces coming down to our house for their vacation.
However, during that recovery week, I felt unusually tired, low on energy, and had crampy legs that didn’t ease up until near the end of the week. I managed to get in just one ride (pictured), thinking that would have to be enough until the following week when I could get back to it. Or so I thought. Unfortunately for me, I ended up getting sick. So I couldn’t ride at all last week.
Today is the first day that I’m feeling somewhat better. Hoping to get back on the bike tomorrow.
Update:
Nope ☹️

To the Aggie

Something funny happened today. Around lunchtime, my brother (who’s not a cyclist but a cross-fitter 😑) came down and said, “Come outside, there’s a cyclist who seems to be having some trouble with his bike. A “real” cyclist.” Sure enough, about 15 meters from our car gate, some guy was changing a flat tire. And mind you, it was about 34-35 degrees out at the time. Of all the places along his ride where he could get a flat, he ends up right in front of our house. Crazy.

So, I went out and did what any fellow cyclist would do – I told him he was blocking our driveway and to get the hell out of the way. (Just kidding, I helped him a bit with the flat and topped off his water bottles, of course.)
Naturally, I asked him what he was doing riding in that heat. Turns out he’s from Texas, so training in the heat is something he’s very accustomed to 😄.
If you’re reading this, I hope you made it to Senj okay and good luck with your ride down to Split.

(And hey, don’t forget to spread the word about the website – this whole little operation of mine depends on you sending American cyclists my way 😁).

No ride photos to share, so here are a few shots from my recent fishing trips. Caught two small fishes in two days, it was not even worth taking a photo of them. Never mind the fish, it’s all about the sunsets.
