RCC Robbed (but some nice awards for Croatia)

Award season is Here! (apparently)

Wanderlust Travel Awards 2024

Most Desirable Destinations (Europe). Italy got gold.

So, now that I’m trying to get in to the biz, I have to keep up with the glitz and glamour of it all. One day it could be me up on that stage (working on my speech already, oh so many people to thank).

On a serious note, it’s nice to see Croatia get recognition world wide. At the same time I’m very curious to see how the next 5-10 years will unfold, where it’s all headed. Houses are being built every-damn-where along the coast. Even our little village is being hit pretty damn hard.
There are so many thoughts I have about the subject but none of them really matter, nor are they very interesting, so, back to the awards!

At Wanderlust Croatia got:

  • Silver Most Desirable Country (Europe)
  • Silver Most Desirable Region (Europe) – Croatian Islands (Kvarner region robbed!)
  • Most Desirable Island (Europe): 5. Hvar (Krk robbed!)

Also, Dubrovnik got some sort of award. Desirable city in Europe, or something. (We are all getting tired of Dubrovnik getting all the spotlight. The Meryl Streep of Croatian tourism).

What about RCC? The academy has become a joke! Popularity contest. Word is Llama Travel did not really earn it’s spot on this list, if you know what I’m saying… One of the reasons why the RCC delegation decided not to travel to the awards this year btw.

But that’s not all. Over in America the annual Travvy Awards where also held. Croatia got silver in the
Best Destination – Mediterranean category. And a couple of other awards.

Yay, Croatian tourism!

Meanwhile in Sweden the weather truly is, to put it mildly, not so nice right now. Fall is over, leaves are gone – it’s that grey in between fall/winter-period. Haven’t seen the sun for what feels like forever.

Did one ride this week – it’s starting to get to cold to be out on the roads. Getting closer and closer to me putting some thicker tyres on the bike and heading in to the forests.
Temperatures are still a bit to high for gravel though, the roads are to wet and slushy – which means that the bike gets really, really dirty each ride. Waiting for below zero temps, so that the roads get a bit more stable/hard. Yes, I actually want it to be colder 😁

From a late October ride. I miss October.
