Training Camp Croatia 2024
Have had some not so good first 2-3 weeks bike-wise down here. Been a little ill/tired, some bad weather, and work with our tourists on Krk have made the last couple of weeks not ideal.
But now that the body feels good it’s time to (try to) get a bit more serious. I’m usually not one for setting up goals and such but I’m going to try to do just that over the next 3 months or so while I’m down here, peaking just in time for when I fly home to the cold in Sweden and the road cycling season being long over back home 😄
2 Main Goals
Volume and power:
Minimum 15 h/w
Ideal 18-20 h/w
Try for a 20-30 watt increase on my 20 min power by the middle of September.
Power is the big one. As far as volume goes, I always strive to keep it at 15-20 h/w while I’m here, but having a fixed power-number to aim and train for is not something I usually do.
Secondary Goal
Drop 4-5kg in weight. This is the really hard one 😄
Bonus
Riding Istria300 at the end of September.
If I’m able to train as I wish and if there are spots available in the race.
So today was the first day of this new Kris. Hopefully this blog can help keep me motivated and help me with sticking with the plan.
Wanted to do a 2.5-3h ride with 5×4 min Vo2 intervals early in the ride. Did 2 of them up a mountain and 3 where on a little more flat terrain.
The power numbers where, frankly, pretty shit. On the last interval I couldn’t even keep it within Vo2.
On the way home I saw our neighbour having a good time, so I made a quick stop and took a shot with them. My power numbers warranted drowning my sorrows a bit, I felt.
All in all not a good start to the training block. But I woke up early and got the ride in. Need to get the routine in for these super early rides – there really is no other time of day to ride here in the summer, especially for the longer rides.
Off to the beach now for a quick dip. Water is going to be nice and cold after some windy days.
