Weekend Rides
Strong end to the week I feel. Almost 11 hours over 3 days is a nice little block of training.
Fridays ride I wrote about previously.
Then yesterday was a really nice ride. Knew it was going to be a shorter one so I kept the route down by the coast. Normalized Power 213 with an average heart rate of 114 is for me very good numbers (my max is 195). Felt really good on the bike.
A little longer today. Legs a little more tired. Stole 2 Milka chocolate bars from grandma’s fridge before going to bed yesterday, thinking I could go out in the morning without eating breakfast – but I still felt a little hungry waking up, so I whipped up my kidney bean/chick-peas mix before heading out.
Kept me nice and full throughout the ride – and I saved 8€ by not having to buy 2 snickers and a coke at some gas station in the mountains 😁
I felt yesterday already that the crazy humidity was lessening, the visibility over the water was improving, and by the evening the temperature was even comfortable. So I “feared” it could get really cold higher up in the mountains in the morning.
I was right. It’s pretty fun to be able to predict what the weather is going to feel like on the bike, 1000m up the mountains. I felt like a seasoned vet.
The noticeable change in the air started at 400m already – while the previous days climbing had felt warm all the way to the top almost. By the time I started descending in to the foggy valley it was really, really cold.
This was down in the valley, which today wasn’t foggy at all, just nice and chilly (the seasoned vet had predicted fog, to be honest).
Love the view here. Not the smartest to have the toilets next to the viewpoint though.
Glad to be on the right side of this one 😄
Summary week 1-2
Week 1:
13h
1 nice long ride (6h)
1 shit interval session
Considering I started on Wednesday, I’m pretty happy with the volume I managed to get.
Week 2:
15h 20 min
1 pretty good interval session.
No super long ride.
A little light on the volume but an OK week, I would say.
(I guess I have to remove 1-2 hours per week for all the descending.. But I’m not pausing while descending, if the wheels are rolling, so is the Garmin 😄).
Ok start. Keeping the interval session to 1 per week for now. Aiming for 18h on the bike next week.
Btw, I’m not one to track stress score, CTL and what not. I roughly know my numbers for the different rides I want to do (it’s either pretty easy or it’s really fucking hard) and then I just go by how the body feels.
