Gorski Kotar, Per Usual
No rides Sunday and Monday due to life getting in the way. I wasn’t very motivated for this ride but I’m glad I ended up doing it because it was a great overall ride, one of this summers best.
Took the car to about 650m above sea level, where it was a very manageable 27-28 degrees when I started.
This is another one of those routes that I didn’t get to do last summer. The photos below were taken at what I initially thought was the end of the climb, at around 900m. I had forgotten that the road actually goes up to 1080m, and that that final stretch is really steep 🙃
Midway through the ride, I was heading toward some nasty, dark blue clouds in the distance, likely across the Slovenian border. Luckily they stayed there and the road looped back towards clearer skies. Getting stuck in a rain storm so far from the car and from home would not have been ideal. Didn’t want to stop and snap some photos of the clouds either because I just wanted get out of that area, quickly 😁
Sun was setting nicely behind the mountains back by the car
Pics below are from Fridays ride, I believe. Discovered a new road thanks to a cyclists I met and chatted with along the ride. It’s a shorter climb with some great views.
Every time I’m in Croatia I usually discover some new road, which is always great.
