Your Cycling Routes, Tailored to You

Each stay includes routes tailored to your preferences, fitness level, and goals. From steep climbs to scenic coastal rides, every route is designed to provide the ultimate cycling experience.
Please note that an intermediate level of fitness is recommended, as even the easiest routes feature significant elevation gains due to the challenging terrain.

While the schedule remains flexible and can adapt during your stay, it’s helpful to have a framework in place before your arrival to make the most of your time here.

Below are some example routes to spark inspiration for your trip. Each route is fully customizable and can even be adjusted mid-ride to match the preferences and needs of the group.
While I haven’t tackled the iconic climbs of the high Alps or other renowned coastal cycling destinations, I’m confident that the climbs here – with their sharp ascents, steep gradients, and formidable length – can hold their own against many well-known coastal destinations in Europe.

Krasno Valley

Distance: 130km
Elevation Gain: 2539 m

Highlights: Start with a scenic ride south along the coast before tackling a 16 km climb towards the Velebit mountains. The first part of the climb offers stunning views, while the second part challenges you with sharp ascents. The long, scenic descent back to the house is a rewarding finish.

Krasno, which means “beautiful” or “wonderful,” is a picturesque village nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains and forests. For an extra challenge, before departing the valley, you can take a detour to the Church of Our Lady of Krasno, where a very steep climb rewards you with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.

Gorski Kotar

Distance: 80-150 km
Elevation Gain: about 2000 m

Highlights: The ride begins with a 20 km climb towards the green forests of Gorski Kotar, offering breathtaking views. As the coast fades into the distance, the landscape transforms, with lush green forests taking over and providing a striking contrast to the coastal scenery.

This route can be done as a simple out-and-back or as a loop, starting or ending along the coast, with plenty of scenic exploration in between.

Krk Island

Distance: 90-160 km
Elevation Gain: 1200-1500 m

Highlights: Starts with a scenic coastal ride towards the iconic Krk Bridge, crossing into the island. Explore the charming region around Vrbnik, known for its vineyards, and venture to the southern part of the island, around the picturesque towns of Baška and Stara Baška.

Istria

Distance: 100-130 km
Elevation Gain: 1200-2000 m

Highlights: The historic town of Motovun, the scenic Butoniga reservoir, and the stunning Učka Mountain. Ride along the Opatija Riviera and enjoy the rolling hills with olive groves and vineyards.

Note: Requires a car ride to Istria first (about a 50 min car ride). If you don’t arrive to us by car, transportation of 3-6 bikes can be arranged at an additional cost (about 50-60€ for delivery and pick up).

Special Route: Island Hopping – Cres Island

Highlight: The breathtaking beauty of Cres Island

As mentioned elsewhere on the website, we also have a house on Krk Island, located in Njivice. This house can serve as your base for a day or two during your stay, making an island-hopping adventure possible.
Staying in Njivice comes at no additional cost to your booking. The only extra expense would be the ferry ticket from Krk to Cres.

Since this requires a bit of extra planning, and can be done in many different ways, please let me know in advance if you’re interested in exploring Cres Island.

This blog post (same one as above) details a ride on Cres and a ride in Istria the following day, while using the house in Njivice as my base.

Mountain Loop

Distance: 127 km
Elevation Gain: 2838 m

Highlight: A stunning climb you’ll want to repeat—though maybe not three times in one ride (unless you’re feeling extra ambitious).

(Note: I wouldn’t schedule this exact ride for you, but the loop is a great option for anyone looking to add a bit more distance. The rest of the group can easily head back to the house, as the climb starts almost as soon as you roll out the door. Oh, and the picture with the e-bikes is from a guiding I did with a tourist using rented bikes, not my bikes.)
